What is Green Infrastructure?
Green infrastructure is an interconnected network of green spaces that incorporates all aspects of a healthy ecosystem. It focuses on preserving streams and aquatic wildlife as well as forested areas that are habitats for plants and animals. By protecting these areas, it's possible to support trade-related farming, forestry and tourism. Green networks also promote clean water and improve air quality -- something we're happy to do every time we help someone reduce energy use in their homes!
Harford County's Green Infrastructure Plan
Financial assistance and support for this plan is coming from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Implementation of the plan will be driven by the county Department of Planning & Zoning. The final draft of the Harford County Green Infrastructure Plan is scheduled to be completed by October 2018.
